No NHS Parking Fees seeks to abolish parking charges and penalties for staff and visitors to NHS hospitals across the UK.
Who are we?
No NHS Parking Fees is a non-profit campaign committed to abolish parking charges and penalties at NHS hospitals. We campaign for free parking for staff and visitors at all NHS sites.
What problem are we trying to solve?
At the moment staff and visitors to NHS hospitals and other locations have to pay a fee for parking when working there or visiting. Costs vary between individual NHS trusts and can prove very expensive for both staff and visitors who have no choice other than to pay the fee or pay extra penalties.
What are we trying to do?
We believe hospital parking should be free for NHS staff and visitors across the UK. The pandemic proved NHS Trusts could all free parking for staff. We want this to be restored and extended to hospital visitors.
We recognise there are financial and budgetary implications which make it difficult for NHS Hospital Trusts to abolish parking charges and propose a phased approach over two years starting with abolishing parking charges for staff and reduced charges for visitors combined with a Park and Ride service.
We campaign for and raise funds:
- to lobby for changes in NHS practices for the introduction of an NHS Parking Charter.
- for each NHS Hospital Trust to scrap parking charges for staff within two years of charter sign up.
- for affordable subsidised parking schemes for NHS staff where car parks are privately contracted out.
- for each NHS Hospital Trust to implement park and ride schemes where possible for staff and visitors.
What difference will it make?
This change will ensure NHS staff and visitors are not penalised for attending hospitals for work or to visit friends and family.
